University of Adelaide comprises of five campus, 3200 personnel and 27,000 students.
Being the third oldest University in Australia there are numerous original and many newly constructed building. This presents many challenges for UOA Security team tasked with management of the buildings and in excess
of 800 keys. Goals:
-Prevent Key Loss
-Automate Check in /out
-Monitor Activity
A Key Safe was implemented to assist with securing the keys whilst stored, however the issue of keys being misplaced and lost whilst in the custody of personnel
and contractors remained a compounding problem. Not being able to locate where a particular set of keys were or who they may be with added lack of efficiency to the cost of loss. Which in one single incident cost UOA 170k in re-keying and over two months downtime.
Zero loss of keys after ATLAS implementation, through new ability to trace activities leading up to loss. Peace of mind for management teams.
Personnel accountability has improved through general awareness of asset location tracking being active – especially amongst contractors.
